| Bio: | I'm a 22 year old English student currently preparing to go out into the big wide world of Real Life in about six months. In the mean time, I'm using this blog to write about current events and my reactions to them, usually with a feminist bent because that's how I view everything in my life. I had a professor of post-modern literature once tell me that in post-modernity, you can't look at the literature through the lenses we were taught in our other classes, such as feminism, post-colonialism, new criticism, etc because those lenses didn't work. What this professor didn't realize however is that some "lenses" aren't removable; for me that's feminism. Some things in life, whether it's literature, a news article or a comment on the street, will impact me in a profound way because of my identification with feminism. They may not impact you the same way, whether you identify as a feminist or not. This does not, however, negate the validity of either of our views. About the Title: I was inspired to name this journal "Blogging While Female" after reading this post about Living While Female: nothing galls our patriarchal society to see this offense on constant display - we [women] walk about so freely, talking and making decisions, like we had some right to be acting with something resembling agency - and it makes every possible effort to discourage this behavior. since we are all, however, such uppity bitches who for some reason refuse to take direction and quit being so evident all the time, force is often necessary. harassment, intimidation, abuse, rape, murder: the price we pay for breathing.
